Clear Image Videophone
Unlike previous generations of videophones that cost thousands of dollars and transmitted jerky, delayed, low-resolution images, this videophone uses the latest broadband Internet technology to send clear, real-time images, accurately synchronized with sound, for true-to-life audio and video that’s the next best thing to having the person in the room with you.
Made by Motorola®, the leading provider of two-way radio communications to public safety, government, transportation, and manufacturing organizations for over 75 years, the videophone connects to your broadband cable or DSL modem, making it possible to send and receive video and sound to and from the same kind of videophone at 30 frames per second (by comparison, modern films are show n in theaters at 24 frames per second).
The unique videophone is designed vertically, so that it sits on a desktop at eye level to a caller seated in front of it. A miniature camera is built in to the frame of the high-resolution 7" LCD screen, and the base incorporates a hands-free speaker. Placing a call to another videophone (sold separately) is as simple as touching the talk button and then dialing the number. When the other phone is answered, the screen shows the person on the other end of the call (a sliding lens cap allows you to place or receive calls with the camera off for video privacy if desired).
You can customize the screen to show an inset picture of your face in addition to the image of the person on the other end of the lin e. The phone has still-frame digital picture-based caller ID and phonebook capability. An on-screen interactive menu allows you to easily separate and collate business and personal directories.
Not limited to internet-based video calls, the videophone’s cordless handset can be used to place and receive traditional voice-only calls over a standard phone jack. Requires monthly subscription to videophone service.
15 1/2" H x 9" W x 8 1/4" D. (2 1/2 lbs.)
